America 250: Three Presidents - Lincoln, Grant, and Garfield
About this event
To celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the founding of the United States, the Stark Museum of Art presents America 250: Three Presidents - Lincoln, Grant, and Garfield. This special focus exhibition features three watercolor paintings by Taos artist Oscar E. Berninghaus. Each painting shows a moment from the early life of Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant or James Garfield. These scenes remind us that these well-known leaders began as ordinary boys who worked hard and hoped for a better future. This exhibition, on view May 16 - December 23, 2026, is part of the America 250 and SETX 250 celebrations taking place across Southeast Texas. It gives our community a chance to take part in the 250th anniversary and learn about the presidents who helped shape our nation. Admission is free; the museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
